Dear Prospective Student:
Congratulations on your decision to go to law school! The next few months will be filled with decisions and wait periods. Every step of the way, make sure to take enough time to make an informed choice. Differentiating the law schools may be difficult in the beginning, but you will find the right school for you through campus visits and speaking with current students.
I would like to invite you to closely consider applying and enrolling at the University of Chicago Law School. The Law School is an amazing place to begin your development as a legal practitioner. From our very first class to our last, we are taught in intimate settings by world-class professors, who are as approachable as they are intelligent. Members of our alumni network are among the most distinguished in their professions and remain eager to support current students. In addition, our student body is composed of some of the most intellectually curious people in the country. These many strengths, coupled with a location in the best city in the Midwest -- Chicago -- paints a clear picture why Chicago Law is a great choice.
At the Law School, the Earl B. Dickerson Chapter of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) is focused on providing development opportunities for both the student body and the surrounding community. BLSA’s programming for the 2014-15 academic year will be centered around the theme, “Building a Culture of Success: Leading for Change.” The theme will be served by three separate modules: “Broadening the Impact of Service,” “Sustaining Educational Excellence,” and “Engaging Leaders in the Law.” Inspired by earning National Small Chapter of the Year for the 2013-14 school year, BLSA intends to be at the forefront of creating a community of help by providing focused programming to students and the greater Chicago community.
Most importantly, BLSA is a safe space. Law school is sure to be one of the most emotionally and intellectually challenging experiences you have ever endured. It is imperative that you have a strong support system during your three-year journey. BLSA will be just that to you; we welcome the opportunity to support you as you transition to the UChicago Law School community.
I would love the chance to connect with you! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions on how BLSA can best serve you during this process.
Join us at UChicago . . . you will be forever pleased that you did.
