Welcome Back Reception
The University of Chicago BLSA kicked-off the 2011-2012 school year with a Welcome Back Reception at the home of our BLSA president. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for incoming 1Ls to meet the continuing BLSA members in a comfortable setting. BLSA members bonded and caught up with each other over food and drinks. We were also happy to have three African-American faculty members in attendance.
Diverse Professional Students Reception
On September 30th, 2011 the University of Chicago BLSA held the First Annual Diverse Professional Students Reception at the Booth School of Business’ Gleacher Center. The event was aimed at African-American students at law schools, business schools, and medical schools in and around Chicago.
We created the Diverse Professional Students Networking Reception to amplify our organization’s goals of finding innovative ways to create forums for issues that are of concern to an increasingly diverse student body and legal profession, and providing a supportive community for diverse students. The attendees were able to develop relationships with students from all of the professional schools around the city, while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and jazz music. There were over three hundred professional students in attendance.
